Tigoni, Kiambu — 2024 — Residential
Serene Hills

- Area
- 310 m²
- Duration
- 11 months
- Scope
- Interiors, furniture, styling
The site does the work here. Our task was to keep the interior quiet enough that the hills remain the subject of every room.
Furniture sits low. Colour is withheld. The single strong gesture is a rough stone hearth that anchors the lounge and gives the space a centre when the weather closes in.
Design concept
An interior calibrated below the intensity of its landscape.
Material palette
- Rough-hewn field stone
- White oak flooring
- Undyed linen
- Aged brass
Spatial strategy
A single open volume broken only by level change, with sheltered corners at each end so the room works for two people or twenty.

Designer's note
“Restraint here was a discipline, not a style. Every additional colour we tested made the view smaller.”
